As Christmas quickly approaches our thoughts now turn to buying gifts. This ancient custom is for some a wonderful act of joy. For others it is an act of drudgery.
Shopping for Christmas gifts is what you choose to make it.
It is true that many people just love to get in their car and drive for miles with a single goal. The Shopping Mall. • The ride to the mall can be alot of fun. At what other time of the year do we get the opportunity to see so many other cars on the road? And once we have arrived at our destination we get to see even more cars in the Parking Lot. Thousands of them.
We then get our exercise as we proceed to the Main Entrance. There are wonderous rewards for this labor however — once inside we get to see all the people who were driving to the mall. Thousands of them. All of these people have a singular purpose, of course. To find the Perfect Gift.
Watch their happy faces as, shoved and jostled, they frantically search for this gift. Once it is found, their expressions become priceless as they wait in the long line to pay the cashier. Then it’s off to the next store.
There are alternatives, of course. One can have Shopped Early (it is now too late). Or one can make gifts (it may now be too late).
The easiest and perhaps best solution is to Shop Rappahannock. We are fortunate to have a variety of fascinating stores within an easy c ^mmute. Many of the items for sale are intriguing and reasonably priced. , Where else can you find Shirley Temple’s “On The Good Ship Lollypop” songsheet for $2.50? Or a pair of handcrafted Amish candles for 99 cents?
The people who own the shops can use the business. And their prosperity means more jobs for local citizens.
All of us will profit if business is kept in the county.
