4-H teen weekend Summer-In-The-Winter Festival! Plans are now complete for the annual “Summer-in-the-Winter Festival” program which will be held at the Northern Virginia 4-H Educational Center February 7-9, 1986. Cost for the weekend will be $30.00. Please come by or call the Rappahannock Extension Office at 6753619 for a copy of the program and registration forms. The deadline is February 1. Virginia Cooperative Extension programs, activities, and employment opportunities are available to all people regardless of race, color, religion, sex, age, national origin, handicap, or political affiliation.
Shenandoah National Park’s
open house to celebrate Holiday
Season 50th anniversary Superintendent Robert Jacobsen extends a cordial invitation to all Park neighbors and Park friends to attend a Holiday Open House at Park Headquarters on U.S. Highway 211, 5 miles east of Luray. The Open House will be held today, Thursday, December 12, from 4 to 8 p.m., and will coincide with President Reagan’s lighting of the National Christmas Tree in Washington, D.C. Coffee, apple cider, and cookies will be served, and the various offices in the Park Headquarters Building will be open to the public.
Nutcracker conies to Warrenton It’s a story of Christmas, magic, and dance. The wonderful music by Tchaikovsky combined with the superb presentation by the Richmond ballet will certainly be one of Warrenton’s greatest holiday treats for young and old. The Moving Arts Center of Warrenton invites residents of Rappahannock County to join them in this performance which will be presented at Fauquier High School Auditorium on December 21, at 8:00 p.m., and on December 22, at 3:00 p.m. Tickets may be ordered by calling (703) 364-2215.
Beekeepers to meet Northern Piedmont Beekeepers Association will meet on December 12 at 6:30 p.m. at John’s Family Restaurant. There will be a program of how to winterize bee hives and also the election of officers. The meal will cost between $4 to $6. If interested call, 825-2233, 937-5195 or 987-8685. Pesticide Recertification 'The Extension Service will be having a Pesticide Recertification on Friday, December 13th, at the Rappahannock Courthouse, beginning at 1:30 p.m. Persons whose pesticide license expires in Dec., 1985, are urged ito attend this session. The main certification test may be taken again by persons missing the session.
