Robert Davis
Reverend Robert Cornelius Davis, age 85, of Alexandria, died on Sunday, November 24, 1985.
Son of the late Mattie and David Davis, he was bom January 23, 1913, in Centreville, Maryland and was reared in Dover, Delaware and Atlantic City, New Jersey.
He received his higher educational training at Delaware State College, Dover, Delaware; The Washington Baptist Seminary and Howard University in Washington, D.C.
The Rev. and Mrs. Davis were married in 1943 and became members of the Mt. Olive Baptist Church in 1944, where they served for several years. The Rev. Davis was pastor of the First Baptist . Church in Washington for five years and later pastored at Antioch Baptist Church in Culpeper for 15 years.
At the time of his death Rev. Davis was the pastor of Zion Baptist Church in Alexandria, where he had pastored for the past 16 years.
Memorial services were conducted on Saturday, November 30 at Mt. Olive Baptist Church at 11 a.m. by the Rev. Dr. Aaron Mackley.
Survivors include his wife, Minnie L. Davis; one son, Jerome J. Davis and four foster sons, Irvin, Jerome, Bobby and Nathaniel Jones; four grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
