Christmas wouldn’t be Christmas without a wreath, symbol of wholeness and renewal. Some of the most beautiful wreaths are the handmade herb wreaths for sale at Faith Mountain. More stylized, albeit practical, art is available with the Jugtown pottery on display at the Mountain Railway Gallery. This shiny, glazed pottery that comes from the famous Jugtown, North Carolina potters ranges from $7.00 for mugs to $80 for large jugs.
Hand-crafted spoons are particularly pleasing works of art - they delight both the tactile and visual senses. Sperryville artist Andrea Klopp sells her mahogany, purple heart and other hardwood spoons for under $40. Although her spoons are primarily works of art, they are oiled with a kind of mineral oil that is suitable for food use.
