has found a sweet smelling solution to the stinky problem of what to do with the septage and sludge from Sperryville’s sewage treatment plant.
A Culpeper waste hauling company with the unlikely name of Rosebud has agreed to pump, haul and dispose of the septage from the individual septic tanks that are part of the village’s collection and treatment system. The 165 tanks, each with a capacity of 1,000 gallons, will be emptied on a three-year cycle, with a third of the units pumped every year.
The contract, with charges of $70 per 1,000 gallons, has been drafted and copies will be sent to Authority members for a final review, Bill Strider told the WSA last Thursday.
