Ron Vickers, coach of Rappahannock High School’s eighth-grade boys basketball team, lauded his young charges’ efforts after the Panthers stung Stonewail-J ackson Tuesday night by a score of 41-23.
“It’s phenomenal for an eighthgrade team to score 41 points,” Coach Vickers said. “I had three players in double figures, and another with six points,” the coach added, obviously proud of his team’s success.
Coach Vickers said that the Panthers “got ahead early and stayed ahead. They worked real good as a team -- taking the ball to the basket, not taking the long shots. The team was real strong throughout the whole game.”
He added that in his three years of coaching the eighth grade team, “This is as much talent as I’ve ever had.”
