Expressing the School Board’s appreciation for both donations, the chairman said that Rappahannock “is going into a whole new era with our educational programs. It makes everybody feel good.”
In other business, the School Board:
• Accepted a bid of $200 per unit from Terminex to* termite control for the modular classrooms now at the high school.
• Heard from Superintendent Estabrook that his recommendations on incorporating a child safety program in the regular school curriculum will be forthcoming in time for next school year.
• Tabled a decision on purchasing radios for the school buses until next month when all members are expected to be present. (Both Bill Oliver and Randall Updike were absent from last week’s session.)
• Agreed to ask the Board of Supervisors for a supplemental appropriation amounting to $4,214 so that money from the sale of old school buses and used equipment, a refund on insurance Coverage, and a rebate on overcharges for workers’ compensation may be included as revenue in this year’s budget.
