In another contest played across the mountain in Page County, the Panthers beat Luray High School in the second game of the season. “The team did real good against those guys,” Coach Vickers said. Rappahannock beat Luray easily, 34-11, shutting out the home team in the third quarter. Again, Tony Williams was the high scorer with 12.
In their home opener against William Monroe, the Panthers lost by a 43-28 margin. Coach Vickers explained that “It was a physical game.” Of 25 free throw attempts, the Panthers sunk only six. “If we had made the other 19, we would have won the game,” he added.
