Custom feeding field day
Marie your calendar for Saturday, Jan. 31, when a field day is planned from 1 to 3 p.m. at Horseshoe Farm, Rapid&n. The agenda will focus on the progress of the custom feeding project. The cattle are on feed in a counter-slope barn. The ration is mostly corn. Discussion of the health program, the fedlity, the rations and the objectives of this trial are planned. Middle Street Gallery will be holding its second annual Valentine’s Show, this year entitled "Art from rite Heart,” with an opening reception from 6 to 10 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 7. This marks the first anniversary of Middle Street Gallery functioning as an artists’ cooperative. The Gallery is closed during January for renovations.
Fun filled trip to Florida
. Anyone interested in going to Orlando, Fla., June 22-27 with the Bethel Baptist Church in Amissville is invited to call Mrs. Linda Mallory at 937-5039. Seating is limited, so reservations should be made as soon as possible. Reservations will be accepted on a first come, first serve basis.
RLEP to meet
The Rappahannock League for Environmental Protection will meet at the library on Monday, Jan. 26. The public is invited to attend and to participate in discussing "Land Use Protection - What’s the Next Step? Let’s Get Serious.”
The members of the board of directors will convene at 7 p.m. and the public meeting will follow at 7:30 p.m.
Bland music contest
The Rappahannock Lions Club annual Bland music scholarship contest will be held Sunday, Feb. 22, at 2:30 p.m. in the music room of the Rappahannock Elementary School. Those students attending Rappahannock schools should contact Mrs. Cathy Fox or Mian Cathy Hewitt for forms to register for this contest. ' "Beef cattle school
The Extension Service is sponsoring a beef cattle school al Graves Mountain Lodge in Syria on Wednesday, Jan. 28, from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Lunch will be served. Pre-registration by Jan. 26 is requested. Call the Extension Office (675-3619) for more information or registration.
La Leche League
The newly formed La Leche League of Fauquier County will hold its first meeting Feb. 4 at 10 a.m. at the home of Jill Stone near Warrenton (call 347-4547 for directions).

Money for college
A seminar on financial aid for Rappahannock County students who are planning to attend college will be held Wednesday, Jan. 28, at 2 p.m. in the high school library.
John Sell ere, financial aid officer at James Madison University, will explain types of financial aid, where it is available, and how and when to apply.
