The family trap

Chit Chat Winchester, a non-profit substance abuse treatment center, will offer a program on the predictable and unavoidable personality problems which plague family members living with a substance abuse problem.

The program is part of Chit Chat’s Chemical Dependency Awareness Hour Series. It will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 28, at 7 p.m. in the Benham Room of the Handley Library, Braddock and Piccadilly Streets, Winchester. For more information, call Chit Chat Winchester (703)662-8866.

Aerobic dance class begins

The Aerobic Dance Company (the Vickers method) will begin a low impact aerobic class at the Amissville fire hall on Wednesday, Feb. 4. Classes will be held each Wednesday and Thursday from 2 to 3 p.m. For additional information call certified instructor Renee Molony at 937-4606.

Progressive dinner weekend

The Bed and Breakfast Guild of Rappahannock County has declared war on the winter doldrums. The Guild is sponsoring a series of progressive dinner weekends. The package includes dessert on arrival Friday night, breakfast Saturday morning and a progressive dinner from 4-10 p.m. Saturday. The dinner begins at Caledonia Farm with a social hour and hors d’oeuvres, followed by a soup course at Heritage House in Washington. Then, on to Meadowood B & B in Boston for the entree: fresh rainbow trout almondine or Italian bracciole. An assortment of desserts, coffee and tea at Conyers House in Slate Mills caps the evening.

The weekend will be held Jan. 23-24, Feb. 6-7 and 27-28 and March 13-14. The cost is $35 per person, phis lodging. Reservations may be made at the B & B of your choice. Stop smoking clinic

For Valentine’s Day, smokers can give their sweethearts the gift of a longer, healthier and happier life by deciding to kick the habit and attending an American Lung Association of Northern Virginia Stop Smoking Clinic.

To be held at Springfield United Methodist Church, 7047 Old Keene Mill Road, Springfield, from 7-9 p.m. on the evenings of Feb. 3, 5, 9 and 12, the clinic is offered at a cost of $15. The entire fee will be refunded to those participants who attend ail four sessions.
