Dissatisfied with the options offered by zoning administrator John McCarthy, the Rappahannock planning commissioners asked last week for more information and alterna/ ves on \ Vrations
At last Wednesday’s meeting, Mr. McCarthy presented three zoning classifications for the business, which involves preparing, stuffing and mounting the skins of animals:
• Allowed as a home occupation in any zoning district.
• Allowed as a commercial, retail and business use by right in one or more zoning districts.
• Allowed as a commercial, retail and business use only in Agriculture, Conservation, General Commercial or Highway Commercial zoning districts by special use permit from the Board of Zoning Appeals with a site plan required.
In his memo to the planning commissioners, Mr. McCarthy recommended the third option. “The profession of taxidermy is overseen largely by the Commonwealth, which does license commercial taxidermists,” the zoning administrator loted. “However, the disposal of
