Ms. Dubasky will conduct workshops through April with children, senior citizens, community members and area artists, delving into art, archeology, and our rural past. The products of the workshops and contributions of individuals will be compiled near the end of the month in a mural.
In creating her own art, Ms. Dubasky has used images based on prehistoric paintings from caves in France. Some of the related skills she has mastered are paper-making, mask-making and collage, all of which will be used in workshops during her stay here.
According to Sally Nash, director of the RAAC artist’s forum, which sponsors the artists in residence program, Origins and Excavations is the theme of several ambitious local projects this year, including a special art exhibit and a dance performance with sculpture and original music, all by Rappahannock artists.
