NSDAR day trip planned
The next meeting of the Culpeper Minute Men Chapter, NSDAR, will be “On Tour” Tuesday, June 14. It consists of a day trip to Point of Honor, Poplar Forest, and Red Hill. Those with reservations are reminded that the bus leaves Culpeper Baptist Church parking lot at 7 a.m., and Jefferson National Bank parking lot in Madison at 7:30 a.m. Please be on time. Beekeepers to have picnic
The Northern Piedmont Beekeepers Association will hold its annual picnic on Red Oak Mountain at Woodville Saturday, June 11, at 5 p.m. Anyone with an interest in beekeeping is welcome to come. One should bring a covered dish to share, and one’s own drinks and chairs. The view from Red Oak Mountain is spectacular. Burke reunion
The families of the late Lewis and Bessie Jenkins Burke will hold a reunion on Sunday, June 12, at the Rappahannock Park near Washington. Family members and friends are invited to attend, bringing a picnic lunch and beverage, and meet old and new friends. Lunch will be served at 12:30.
Medicinal herb walk
An herb walk will be conducted Sunday, June 12, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Jordan River Farm near Huntly. Topics covered will be Doctrine of Signatures, how and when to gather, dry and store herbs as well as how to make infusions, salves and tinctures. Only herbs found in the backyard, river bed, field or roadside will be included. Please wear comfortable shoes and rain gear if appropriate. Bring snacks and a bag lunch.
