Thomas W. Letts
Thomas W. Letts, 60, of Danville, Pa., died June 3 at the Veterans Hospital in Wilkes-Barre, Pa., where he had been a patient for eight months. He had been in ill health since 1981.
Mr. Letts was bom May 28, 1928, at Mahoning Township, the son of Mrs. Irene Shobert Letts and the late Charles Letts.
He was a veteran of World War II, the Korean war and the Vietnam war. He served from 1945 to 1967 in the United States Navy and the United States Air Force, retiring in 1967 with 21 years of service.
He was then employed by Southern Bell Telephone Company for 15 years. After retiring in 1983 he lived in Miami, Fla., and Baltimore, Md., before returning to Danville in 1985.
Mr. Letts’ wife the former Ema K. Garth of Reimershausen, Germany, died July 1,1983.
Surviving with his mother are a daughter Kathy McLelland, Toronto, Canada, three sons, Ralph E. Letts, Culpeper, Thomas C. Letts, Amissville, and John R. Letts, Denver, Colo., two sisters, Lucille Connor, Baltimore, and Isles Dimmick, Danville, and one granddaughter.
Funeral services were conducted June 5 at the Roat Funeral Home in Danville by the Rev. Richard Bardo, pastor of Trinity United Methodist Church. Full military rites were held June 7 at the graveside at the Amissville United Methodist Church Cemetery.
