reading program

The Rappahannock County Library is urging youngsters to sigi) up early for its Summer Reading Program, which begins Wednesday; June 22.

Activities scheduled so far for the weekly program include crafts; stories, films and contests. Childred who finish reading the prescribed number of books by the end of the program will receive a certificate of accomplishment at the closing program in August.

The program is open to preschoolers as well, a library spokesman noted. There will be a special “read-to-me” section of the Garfield Reading Club. The program for children of kindergarten age (rising first graders) and younger will be held on Wednesdays beginning at 10 a.m.

A second program featuring films will be targeted to older kids, first grade and above. That session will be held Wednesdays at 2 p.m.

“Come by the library or call 6753780 to sign up for reading fun with Garfield this summer,” the library spokesman said.
