Amissville carnival June 29-July 2
The Amissville Volunteer Firemen’s carnival will be held June 29July 2. Wednesday night will be family night and you can ride until closing for $5. The parade will begin at 7 p.m. Thursday, the queen will be crowned Friday at 11 p.m., and the drawing for the $1,000 grand prize along with other prizes will be on Saturday. Concessions, shows, rides and games will be featured throughout the four-night event. “Bring the whole family and enjoy the carnival,” said a spokesperson. Anyone willing to help, donate items or participate in the parade is asked to call 937-4357.
Cloverbud camp planned
4-H Camp Cloverbud will be held Aug. 5-6 at the 4-H Center near Front Royal. The camp is designed to introduce 6, 7 and 8-year-olds who have not been to camp before to the overnight camping experience. The cost is $25. Registration information can be obtained by contacting the Rappahannock Extension Office at 675-3619.
Crafters wanted for festival
The Sperryville Fire Department and Sperryville Rescue Squad will hold their first craft festival Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 20 and 21, at the fire department on Rt. 211 west. All crafters are welcome. To reserve booth space, or for more information, call 987-8170.
Help offered for farm problems
Jack Dunford, Farm Management, Extension Agent, is in the Rappahannock Extension Office to handle phone calls and visits pertaining to agriculture on Mondays during June from 9 a.m. to noon. Any resident with questions or problems pertaining to agriculture should call or stop by the Extension Office on Gay Street in Washington, where Mr. Dunford will be available. He also can make farm visits in the afternoons, if such services are needed. Please come by or give the Extension Office a call at 675-3619.
