Besides the wide variety of food, the usual and most unusual crafters, lining Gay Street from Porter to Middle Street on both sides, offer everything from a pottery collander for the kitchen sink to t-shirts for the whole family.
Booths, local and from surrounding states, showcase jewerly, fine woodwork, quilts and other handiwork, cut glass, pottery, and a wide variety of other items for browsers and buyers.
To handle the overflow, pedestrians and to prevent traffic jams, Main Street will be closed from Middle to Jett, along with Gay Street from Middle to Porter.
“We’re trying something new this year,” July Fourth Committee member Brad Fisher said, explaining designated parking lots will be established with attendants and a nominal charge.
Parking cars — for $2 per car — in designated areas will hopefully allievate some of the congestion around the town, Mr. Fisher said. Some form of transportation to and from parking lots is being arranged.
