At its regular Executive Committee meeting on June 14, the Rappahannock Association for the Arts and the Community welcomed Cathleen A. Stephen of Warrenton who will become the organization’s director on July 1.
Mrs. Stephen received an Arts Management degree from American University in 1988 and a degree in music from Ithaca College in 1984. She worked as program secretary at the National Endowment for the Arts’ Arts in Education Program in Washington, D.C. in 1988, and was employed before that by the Levine School of Music in Washington and the Cornell Symphony Orchestra.
Mrs. Stephen will succeed Kay Robertson of Viewtown, who is resigning effective June 29. Mrs. Robertson has been RAAC’s Director for the past year.
She saw RAAC successfully through its principal annual fundraiser, a dinner and art auction on June 10 at the School House Restaurant in Flint Hill. The event, which had the strong support from local artists and crafters it has drawn in the past, was chaired by Mike and Betty Mahoney.
