Debts owed to the Virginia Division of Child Support will have priority over most other debts outstanding. This means that if a delinquent parent also owes money to pay off a car or a boat, any payments must firt go to pay off his child support obligations. In fact, child support debt will be second only to mortgage payments for a primary residence.
