Pre-school screening
The Rappahannock County Public Schools will conduct developmental screening assessments for children age five and under at the elementary school on Jan. 22 and 23, from noon to 3 p.m. The screening will also be offered to school-age children with suspected learning or developmental disorders. Parents with children who they suspect may be developmentally delayed in crawling, walking or language, or may have problems with vision, speech or hearing are urged to bring the child in for this free assessment. Testing takes approximately 30 ■ minutes to one hour. For more information, contact the elementary school (987-8259).
Estate planning for farmers
Planning for retirement and settlement of an estate is a difficult task for everyone, but can be especially so for farm families, whose situations and requirements are cften different from those in other professions. The Va. Cooperative Extension Service has organized a seminar designed to speak to the particular needs of farm families in planning retirement and estate settlement. The workshop will be held .-..Monday, Jan. 21 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Barboursville fire hall. Topics will include Social Security and the Farmer, Retirement Planning, After-Tax Strategies, Economic Outlook and Opportunities, Tools and Importance of Estate Planning and Estate Planning and the Family Farm.
