Librarian resigns
after meeting —

The Library Board announced last week that librarian Diane Green has resigned for personal reasons on Jan. 8 and that Assistant Librarian Elizabeth Jones was named acting librarian until a replacement certified librarian is found.
Board Chairman Dr. William Young also announced that former librarian Dee Brents will work part time in the library on a temporary basis and that Mrs. Jones will increase her hours to almost full time.
On Friday, Jan. 4 the Library Board met in executive session and after reconvening in open session approved a statement saying: “Librarians of the Rappahannock County Library work for the Library’s Board of Trustees. The Board is the arbiter and final word on all matters pertaining to the Library’s operations and personnel matters, (except those delegated by the Board.)
“Every paid Library worker is responsible only to the Board of Trustees, and matters concerning the Library shall not be discussed with Rappahannock officials by them without the expressed knowledge and approval of the Board of Trustees.”
On Monday, Jan. 7, the board again met in executive session to discuss leave policies, Dr. Young said.
