the Rev. Darrell Bare of Washington Baptist Church and the Rev. Jennings Hobson III of Trinity Episcopal Church.
The Rev. Bare commended Social Services for the “insight to recognize this need for a program that is very important to Rappahannock County. It enables people to maintain the dignity of their lives, and also to remain in Rappahannock County.”
He added that part of the mission of a church is its ministry to the community, “and to become involved as well. When we look around and see the need of our friends and neighbors; people who can stay with just a little bit of help — we want to see the county at large, and the churches specifically, get behind it.”
With the state government in Richmond warning that money will likely become even tighter, the Rev. Bare added, “we have to take care of our own.”

Following that meeting they voted to approve a statement that said: . “On holidays, as listed below, and days when roads are impassable, the Library will be closed. Full and part-time employees will be paid on these days for hours they would have served otherwise.
“Holidays are New Years Day, Lee-Jackson-King Day, Presidents’ Day, Memorial Day, Labor Day, Veterans’ Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day. On July 4 the Library Will be open for the Book Sale, etc...
“The Librarian is responsible for having the Library open during scheduled hours except on holidays and impassable days...”
Mrs. Green’s letter of resignation followed that meeting.
On Wednesday, Jan. 9, the Library Board again met in executive session.

Following that meeting, in open session, the board “accepted Mrs. Green’s resignation with regret and with thanks for her accomplishments during her tenure.” They also voted to reaffirm the leave policy formulated on Monday.
The board again met in executive session Thursday, Jan. 10, but Dr. Young said no further actions were taken at that meeting.
