County stickers on sale
County tax stickers for vehicles go on sale at the Treasurer's Office this Friday, March 1. Treasurer Frances Foster reminds residents that county taxes must be paid and registration cards stamped at the Commissioner of the Revenue's Office before a new sticker can be issued. When transferring a slicker from one vehicle to another, the old sticker and receipt must be returned to the Treasurer's Office before a duplicate will be issued. The Treasurer's Office will be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. March 11 through April 30 for the convenience of residents, Mrs. Foster added. Kindergarten registration
The Rappahannock County Elementary School will hold registration for children who will be five years old by Sept. 30 and are planning to attend kindergarten in the fall on Tuesday, March 12 and Wednesday, March 13 from 9 a.m. until noon and 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. by appointment. Parents should call the school (703-9878259) to arrange a convenient tijme. All children must be accompanied by an adult. State law requires that parents of children who will be five years old between Sept. 30 and Nov. 30 be counseled by guidance staff on the advisability of early entrance. Counseling will be available during registration. If parents wish to register, the child will be tested to determine their readiness. Parents are requested to bring birth certificates and social security numbers to registration. Thursday, March 14 may be used as an additional registration day if the response warrants.
