On Feb. 7 a group of approximately 25 residents of Rappahannock, Jft&dison, Orange, Fauquier and Culpeper counties met with Wayne Wilson, Director of SHARE in the Washington, D.C. Metropolitan area, to explore the possibilityof organizing a local SHARE program.
SHARE stands for Self Help and Resource Exchange. It is a program in which participants purchase $30$35 worth of food for a bargain price of $13 plus two hours community service each month.
Mr. Wilson explained the national SHARE organization and how to get a local program started. We need three host sites with a minimum of five participants each to begin. One church in Rappahannock County has expressed interest in be-; ing a host site; the Hebron Lutheran* Church in Madison County has expressed interest and is working to recruit their participants, and Linda Warby in Orange County (672-0824)’; is working to organize a host site in"
Once these three groups (or more if there is enough interest) commit themselves to being a host site, a training program for the host site volunteers will be held. “We hope to have this training session sometime in March,” stated Tommy Williams, Extension Agent.
