Board of Zoning Appeals representative Sid Gottlieb asked if there were a height that would make Mr. nether’s clients happy, and Mr. Fletcher suggested 50 feet. Stonewall-Hawthom District representative Sharon Pierce asked if they would compromise on 55 feet.
“That’s foolishness,” Wakefield District representative Werner Krebser said. “How much visual impact can that small a spire have?”
Dr. Krebser said he was more concerned about Mr. Baumgardner living across the road and having to look at the parking lot.
“It will be an inspiring sight,” Mr. Baumgardner said to applause from the audience.
Dr. Krebser also asked about the use of the rest of the land. Mr. McCarthy said that the deed for the land from Ted and Renate Chapmen contains a restriction that for 25 years the land not used by the church will remain ajgricultural.
“It would be nice to graze sheep there,” Dr. Krebser said. “Wouldn’t that look pastoral?”
