Artists and Friends Show
The Middle Street Gallery will present as its March exhibition its annual "Artists and Friends Show." The exhibition features work by the gallery's member artists and their friends, including Russian photographer Edik Gladkov, whose photographs will include a series on poverty in the Soviet Union that he shot for the Washington Post. Science Fair postponed
Due to the continuing repair work now underway on the roof at Rappahannock County Elementary School, the Science and Art Festival scheduled for ! Thursday, Feb. 28 and Friday, March 1 has ; been rescheduled. It will be held next ' Thursday and Friday, March 7 and 8, at the elementary school. All activities will take place according to the previously announced schedule; only the dates have been changed. The exhibits will be open to the public on Thursday from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. and on Friday from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. For more information, contact RCES (9878259).
Movie schedule corrected
A release sent out by RAAC to its members incorrectly stated that the movie series at The Theatre at Washington, Virginia began on Feb. 17. The movies will * actually resume on Sunday, March 17. Movies will be shown on Sunday evenings only. A 10-ticket passbook is now available from RAAC for $25. In addition to offering a reduced admission rate to the movie series, the pass also provides RAAC a guarantee that seats are sold in advance — an important consideration in keeping up with the expenses for the film series, according to a RAAC spokesman. Tickets may be purchased at the door for the movies.
Education alternatives discussed
Spring Mountain School in Sperryville is sponsoring a community meeting and discussion on education, concentrating on alternatives to the public school system. Anyone with ideas or needs for an alternative school in Rappahannock County is invited to attend. The meeting will be held on Thursday, March 14 at 7:30 p.m. at the Washington Town Hall. Putnam to speak
Nol Putnam will speak at the RCES PTO meeting on Tuesday, March 5 at 7:30 p.m. in the gym. His topic will be "Education as Art." Mr. Putnam is a nationally known blacksmith, a writer and fascinating speaker who will offer new games and strategies to improve selfesteem and self-knowledge, for use in both the classroom and at home.
