Mr. Bassett, the other attorney who set up the Educo Trust to take possession of the school from Clydetta Lynn, said, “If these people are going to litigate and destroy a school, my version of the events and Mr. Miller’s version of the events will be borne out. ”
Mr. Miller said that since word of the controversy has .spread, “people are calling me up and saying, ‘What went on? What happened?’ God bless the ones that are calling. I’m sure there are lots more who are making their own conclusions.”
He said Mrs. Lynn’s statements that he was stealing the school were distasteful. “Allegations of various criminal acts or less-than-tasteful acts by anyone with as much prominence as the Lynns — people are going to pay attention to them,” he said.
Asked about the school’s mood during this crisis, Dr. Saunders said, “The large majority of people want it to be over so we can go back to being a school. The school is so dam good people are bearing with us.”
He said the administration would be understanding if parents wanted to leave out of concern for the troubles, although contracts have already been signed. “We’re not going to hold anybody’s feet to the fire. It would be immoral,” he said.
‘Wakefield is going to be the same quality school” after this dispute is over, said Dr. Saunders.
