The School Board also heard a presentation by Harvey Carmichael of the VDOE on providing a world class education and developing a common core of learning for all students. Mr. Carmichatd said the changes recommended would “insure that all children have the same opportunity for a quality education.”
He said that the program is still being developed and that it will lead to changes in curriculum and to new assessment measures relating to demonstrating proficiency as opposed to the norm-referenced standardized tests currently being used.
