The featured pet this week is a 1 Vi-year-old chow cross female. Also available at the Rappahannock Animal Shelter in Amissville this week are a 2-year-old male black chow cross, a 5-year-old male beagle, a black and white long-haired 3-year-old terrier, a 7-year-old female Doby cross (shy) and a year-old whiteand-brown spaniel cross male. The shelter is open from 9:30 a.m.3 p.m. on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. and from 10 a.m.-4n p.m. Saturday. The lost animal registry can be found in the Classified Section of the Rappahannock News.
County skiers
rank in the state Three Rappahannock youths ranked among the fastest skiers in the state as a result of their ski racing performances during the 1990-91 season, according to the Coca-Cola Junior NASTAR (National Standard Race) program. Michael Fairbrother of Woodville was ranked second among Virginia’s 5-and 6-year-old skiers. Skiing at Bryce Resort, Michael posted a personal season-best handicap of 54. A handicap is the percent difference between a skier’s race time and that of the fastest NASTAR skier in the country, U.S. Ski Team member Nat Bryan. Michael’s score means he came within 54 percent of Bryan. Meghan Fairbrother placed fourth in the state among girls ages 7-9 with a handicap of 50, and Washington, Va., resident Laura McNear placed 10th among the state’s 13-15 year olds.
