Hurricane exercise slated Rappahannock will take part in “Zelda,” a hurricane emergency exercise sponsored by the Federal Emergency Management Agency during the period March 2-April 24, according to Col. D.C. Knuepfer, county Emergency Services coordinator. Other jurisdictions in Virginia, West Virginia, Delaware, Maryland and D.C. will also take part in the exercise. A briefing by Col. Knuepfer will take place at 10 a.m. Jan. 22 in the Rappahannock Courthouse. For more information call 675-3483.
Washington Fire breakfast The Washington Volunteer Fire and Rescue Company will hold a benefit breakfast buffet from 7 a.m.-ll a.m. Saturday, Jan. 18. The cost will be $5 for adults, $3 children under 12. Proceeds benefit the fire company.
Winter Cloverbud Camp The 4-H Winter Cloverbud Camp for kids ages 5-8 will be held Jan. 24-26 at the Northern Virginia 4-H Center near Chester Gap. Campers will participate in several classes, including performing arts, nature, crafts, and cooking. On Sunday morning parents will be invited to join campers for a Friendship Circle and Sunday morning program.
A fee of $45 covers lodging, meals and supplies. Call the Rappahannock Extension Office at 675-3619 for registration forms.
