through Davenport Films based in Delaplane. His wife Mimi is co-producer on some of the films and acts as the company’s financial manager. His most recent film, “Mutzmag," premieres in D.C. in March and then in Delaplane at Emmanuel Episcopal Church.
“These are all old stories that have existed in the human consciousness for thousands of years,” he said.
Mr. Platt, director of the Educational Films Division of the National Geographic Society, has served as executive producer for hundreds films on a variety of subjects. Though he lives in Alexandria he spends a great deal of time in Madison County and has been “coming out there for the last 20 years,’’including occasional foxhunting with the Rappahannock Hunt.
His division makes 15-20 films a year on topics as diverse as geography, local government, the natural sciences, energy, and numerous others. He is interested in “how the community affects what we do as artists, also how my attitude influences what we do.”
