Hillsdale closes
for new building
Hillsdale Grocery on U.S. 211 near Washington, Va., is closing next week for major renovations. Owners Jerry and Rose Foster will close at 9 a.m. Jan. 20, after which the entire building will be replaced “from the ground up,” said Mr. Foster.
Hilltop Sport and Pawn Shop, located next door, will remain open. Mr. Foster said he expects the renovations to last four to six weeks, depending on the weather. When complete, he said, the new building will be larger, more open and offer better service to his customers.
“What really bothers me is the time frame when we’re not here to serve the public,” said Mr. Foster.
The new building, he said, “will be 100 percent better for both parts—the public and us, too.”
