In “Soldier Jack,” a young soldier returns home from WorkT War II iHthout any possessions—except a couple of sandwiches. Through an act of kindness he is given a sack in which he can catch anything and ajar that, / when filled with water, he uses to determine £ if someone will live or die. ^
