series scheduled

Rappahannock area music lovers will be given a rare opportunity to experience an exciting variety of entertainment during the next few months. RAAC has scheduled a series of four concerts presenting internationally known concert and recording talent guaranteed to appeal to sophisticated and popular audience appetites.
The first group to appear with be California to be booked into The Theater at Washington on Saturday, July 25. California consists of Byron Berline, champion fiddler; Dan Crary, flatpicking guitar master; John Hickman, banjo legend; Steve Spurgin, hit songwriter, vocalist and bassist; and to fill out the expanded band, newcomer John Moore who adds expert mandolin.
Together, their music begins with the roots of country and bluegrass and expands on those traditions to create an original and dynamic sound. California’s energetic performances are infectious and their musicianship is truly world class.
On Aug. 7, Robin and Linda Williams, the husband/wife team of singers and songwriters will bring their exquisite harmonies and mostly original program material to The Theater stage. Robin and Linda have produced nine albums to date. For this local engagement they will be bring their band, providing a very full sound to their folk/country harmonies.
The RAAC community has been most interested in Robin and Linda over the years and are happy to be able to present them to their Rappahannock friends.
Sept. 5 is the date selected for Rappahannock’s resident composer, Carl Coon, to present a premiere program of his music compositions, performed on The Theater stage by an outstanding array of professional talent. Carl Coon, writes classical chamber music that is both original and accessible.
The Stellar Group of performers will include the highly regarded Sunrise Quartet, the popular Trapezoid and a trio of distinguished musicians from Washington, D.C. and Pittsburg to perform Carl’s "Rappahannock Trio for Clarinet, Piano and Cello.”
Freyda and The Atta Boys will perform a mesmerizing blend of folk, jazz and blues with innovative instrumental infused with a classical influence.
