Rappahannock students continue to do well on the state’s sixth grade literacy passport tests. This year 72.3 percent of sixth graders passed all three sections of the test compared to 69.7 percent in 1991 and 59.3 percent in 1990.
On the individual tests, however, the percentages were lower on two tests and higher on one. This year 81.5 percent passed the reading test compared to 83.5 percent last year and 83.3 percent in 1990. In writing 86.6 percent passed this year compared to 81.8 percent last year and 76.7 percent in 1990. On math 83.1 percent passed this year, compared to 91.3 percent last year and 78 percent in 1990.
