Sylvia Kreitler has been appointed as superintendent of the Rappahannock Welfare Department. She assumed her new position on June 22 after three years here as general social worker oriented toward child services. Aileen Johnson, chairman of the county’s welfare board, reported that the vote was unanimous to name Kreitler to the post. “We’re very pleased that we were able to promote someone from within the department and that we had someone with Mrs. Kreitler’s ability and expertise/’
The Virginia Commission of Game and Inland Fisheries will continue trout stocking operations in streams across the state in July. Area streams scheduled to be stocked include Big Stoney Creek in Shenandoah County on July 15 and Hughes River in Madison County on July 17.
