Sen. Miller pointed out that his district is over the recomrrtended number of people while Sen. Robb’s district is under, but he said if the whole county were put in his district it would not make enough difference to make either district greater than the variation allowed.
He said people of Rappahannock should let him and Sen. Robb know if they would prefer the whole county to be in one senate district.
The county has never been split between two districts in the State Senate or House of Delegates before 1991, when it was split in the Senate but not the House. Mr. McCarthy said he thought the county would prefer to be in one senate district.
Sen. Miller and Mr. Allen said they had come to hear from citizens about their concerns before the start of the legislative session this week. Representatives from the library and the extension service let them know they want funds restored to at least 1992 levels.
