The New Year’s resolution has become an American tradition for promises of improving lifestyles at the end of the holiday season.
One of the most popular is the New Year’s diet. Unfortunately, many resolutions are broken in the first weeks of the new year. And people who try “crash dieting” are often discouraged when their efforts don’t last or don’t result in significant weight loss.
But don’t give up hope. Excess weight can be lost and kept off by following a regular American Heart Association eating plan pf reduced calories, and by following an exer„ cise plan that includes a 30-minute aerobic workout at leat three times per week.
The American Heart Association says being overweight can lead to high blood pressure, a major risk factor in the development of diseases of the heart and blood vessels.
In addition, overweight individuals tend to have increased levels of cholesterol in the blood, "which is another risk factor for heart disease. So your New Year’s resolution to take off weight and keep it off will not only help you look great, it can help you live a healthier life.
