Limit your consumption* of cholesterol to no more than 300 mg. per day. If you choose to eat eggs, which is the most concentrated source of dietary cholesterol, limit them to no more than 3-4 per week. Limit your consumption of shrimp, lobster and organ meats.

The AHA recommends that total fat intake be no more than 30 percent of total calories. So if you are eating 1,500 calories per day, only 450 of those calories should be in fats. To help you measure your fat consumption, remember to multiply the number of grams of fat per serving by nine. That will tell you the total .number of calories of fat. • Set realistic goals. Concentrate on each five pounds you want to lose, not on your goal.
