One has experience. One has top party support. The other has lots of money.
Such are the claims to fame for the three Republicans vying for their party’s gubernatorial nomination.
Apparently, the next two months will decide whether the party nod goes to Del. I. Clinton Miller, former U.S. Rep. George Allen or former business executive Earle C. Williams. » ^
“This race will be decidea by March,” said Fairfax County GOP Chairman Patrick Mullins, who is supporting Williams, a fellow North-, em Virginian.
Republicans from all over the state converged on Reston last weekend to show their support for the three candidates, to trade predictions and to show the Democrats that, despite intra-party ranglings, the GOP will be prepared to battle Attorney General Mary Sue Terry, the likely Democratic candidate.
The strategy for each candidate is to get as many people to the June convention in Richmond, but the winner will be the person who brings people from all over the state to vote.
