As an alternate way to curtail gun sales, Williams said he supports revising the way motorists get a Virginia driver’s license, the usual form of identification given to gun sellers to prove residency. Currently, a motorist does not have to show proof of residency to receive a driver’s license.
Williams said he is certain he hs» ^ the best chance among Republican^ to win the the GOP gubernatorial nomination.
He said Allen “peaked in November” despite receiving support from about 80 percent of the GOP leadership across the state. Williams attributed party leader support for Allen to “loyalty. ”
Williams, who said he made a lot of money when BDM was sold, said he is sure he will spend $1 million of his own money on his campaign. He predicted his race will cost $10 million.
He said will stick to his pledge to fund no more than 10 percent of the campaign with his own money.
“I don’t have enough money to buy the election,” he said.
He said he mailed 19,000 videocassette tapes of an advertisement directly to potential voters.
