Bruce Sloane of Sperry ville has been named editor of the Rappahannock News.
Sloane recently retired from Digital Equipment Corporation in New Hampshire where he w7as employed as a consultant, technical writer and editor for the last 12 years.
Sloane, and his wife, Joy, are not strangers to Rappahannock County, however. Joy’s mother, Mrs. Cleo Louis, is a long-time resident of Sperry ville, and the Sloanes have spent frequent vacations here.
Sloane holds a bachelor’s degree from Dartmouth College, and a master of science degree from Montana State University, both in geology. After graduation he worked for several years as a mining geologist and park naturalist, but found that his real interests were in w'riting and editing.
