He is the author of two books, Cavers, Caves, and Caving and New Hampshire’s Parklands. He was the copy editor for the book The History ofLuray Caverns, Virginia, which is sold at the caverns.
He has also been a humor columnist for the Concord (N.H.) Monitor, and the Boston Globe. Many Rappahannock News readers will recognize him as th§ writer of the semi-fictional Shirt Tale Hollow series.
“Joy and I are delighted to be back here in Rappahannock County,” said Sloane. “We’re looking forward to serving the community, renewing old friendships, and making new ones.
The Sloanes live in Old Hollow with Mrs. Louis. They have two daughters, Karen Kay Sloane of Arlington, Va., and Amy Leber of Bedford, N.H.
Sloane succeeds M. Sean Kilpatrick, who resigned last month.
