Both baseball and softball teams are providing plenty of good news for Rappahannock High School sports fans as the spring season enters the crucial last weeks, j The baseball team has now won three games in a row behind the pitching of Leroy North. , Last Tuesday, the Panther baseball team defeated Manassas Park 17 to 2 in a home game. North pitched a no hitter while striking out 13 battars. The Rappahannock squad got eight hits including doubles by Mike Jenkins and Paul Brown and a triple by Richie Lillard. ; Friday the team traveled to Clarke County and won 6 to 1. Leroy North got five strike outs while giving up two hits. The Panthers got bine hits including a double by Richie Lillard. ; On Monday, again at home, the taam defeated George Mason 9 to 2. North struck out nine while giving bp four hits. Again the Rappahanbock squad got nine hits including doubles by Paul Brown and Richie (Lillard. ! The team’s district record now Stands at three wins to two losses, j The softball team suffered another loss to Manassas Park 26 to 1 ^before defeating Clarke County and George Mason. Coach Renee Leake baid that Susan Payne had started .that game in which the Manassas •Park girls got their 26 runs on 12 hits. She had walked in a number of runs when Deitrich Beaver came in Jin relief, but the Rappahannock ;squad never recovered from falling •so far behind. I
