PIEDMONT TECHNICAL EDUCATION CENTER SURVEY SCHOOL NAME CHANGE Piedmont School was built in 1948 and at that time was called GEORGE WASHINGTON CARVER Regional School. It was a comprehensive high school until 1967. In 1968 the school was converted to a vocational school and the name was changed to PIEDMONT TECHNICAL EDUCATION CENTER. The School Board has received a request from the George Washington Carver Alumni Association to change the name of the school. Prior to any action by the board, a request was made to survey the community to determine their preference and/or reaction to the proposed name change.
