The four-to-one vote in favor of the delay was taken after Herbert Barksdale, representing the Planning Commission, asked for the moratorium to give the Commission time to complete a new subdivision ordinance.
Chairman Newbill Miller said an advertisement has appeared in “Leisure Home Living,” a magazine distributece on air lines, concerning a planned development in the ski area of Rappahannock. There are 750 homesites planned. Miller said, and they could be put in under the existing law.
“This would amount to onehalf of the county’s population, and would increase the schools by twTo-thirds,” Miller said. “Our roads would not be adequate."
