As an immediate solution the vestry and commission are recommending that a third Sunday morning service be added starting in the fall of 1994, but eventually that will not be enough, Mr. Mahoney said.
It would be difficult to add to the church at its present location because of the closeness of the drainfield and setback requirements, he said. In a new location, it might be possible to add to the church, or it could continue to be used for smaller services and a new church could be built for services attracting larger humbers of worshipers.
Several members of the congregation were strongly opposed to moving from the center of town. They encouraged the vestry to consider other alternatives, and the decision to hire a consultant grew out of that discussion.
