The board tentatively approved the plans leaving open the question of whether the students will leave on Tuesday or Wednesday and return on Saturday or Sunday. Class sponsor Vicki Eastham recommended that the class leave earlier and return earlier. She said the students get to take part in more activities at the resort on weekdays when it is less crowded.
Hampton District representative Bryant Lee, who has accompanied past senior classes to the resort as a chaperone seconded her recommendation saying the students are really stiff from their time at the resort and need Sunday to rest up for school.
Dr. Gangel said that the school system has experienced about $25,000 in unexpected expenses so far this year. He said he was not yet worried about the schools being able to finish the year within budget, but he is hoping there won’t be many more such expenses.
