The Middle St. Gallery Is filled with fine crafts this month, for the “Made in Virginia” Show. Sixteen Virginians are showing off some of their best work in this exhibit.
Several members of the gallery have their work included in this show, but it is refreshing to also see the work of several artists working throughout the state.
Review
Solveig Cox of Alexandria produces whimsical cat pottery, some made of porcelain, some made of clay, and some painted with acrylics. These are fun pieces to behold, even for dog lovers.
Blacksmith Nol Putnam creates beautiful and functional pieces in his forge in The Plains. His candelabra of forged steel leaves intertwined has a wonderful feeling of movement to it.
From Fairfax come Joan Vogel’s fragile opaque glass boxes. These are exquisite pieces, and must be very time consuming to construct.
June Kapos of McLean is exhibiting several large clay pots, etched with animal shapes around the periphery.
The most expensive piece in the show is Stephen LeDrew’s table of
