Huskey said he has traveled extensively and thinks Washington, D.C., and Paris — where Disney has a park — are the world's two most beautiful cities. Huskey says Disney’s park in Paris is not succeeding, but he predicts the Prince William park will be “a winner” because of the American history theme, the historically relevant location and the company’s method of doing things.
‘The facility that Disney is bringing there is a natural,” he said. “They do things with class.”
For Jewell, Disney’s presentation of American history cannot compare with what Virginia has already, in its historic sites, fields, mountains and monuments.
"I don’t need to be reminded (by Disney) how beautiful my country is.” Jewell said. “I am personally and totally against this thing. ... I’d much rather walk across an empty field (in Prince William) than walk across Disney.” In Orlando’s case, Disney established its own district, separate from county or city government. Responsibility for improvements to roads used by Disney became a sticking point between Disney and local government.
That does not appear to be a problem in Prince William, according to State Del. Harry J. Parrish (R-50th), whose district includes part of the Disney tract.
